Change and New Beginnings (CANB), CANB Solano is a nonprofit organization serving Solano County since 1967. CANB provides housing stability, homelessness prevention, veteran services, supportive housing, representative payee services, and other critical programs that empower individuals and families to achieve long-term independence.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Seeking an experienced mission driven full time Executive Director (ED) to lead our organization into its next chapter of growth and community impact. The ED provides strategic leadership for the organization and works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, community partners, and CFO to ensure operational excellence, compliance, financial sustainability, and continued growth. The ED provides leadership, direction and management to increase the impact of CANB’s mission and programs, while expanding its funding base.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of nonprofit leadership experience or senior leadership experience.
- Experience leading a nonprofit organization, preferably in homeless services, housing or human services.
- Knowledge of HUD, Continuum of Care (CoC), ESG, VA, and other government funded programs.
- Proven track record in fundraising, including grant writing, grant management and donor cultivation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage community and partnership building.
- Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and empower employees (approximately 15).
- Financial acumen with the ability to review budgets and financial statements and partner with the CFO on budgeting, board financial presentations, and the annual audit.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and represent CANB throughout the community.
- Background check required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a nonprofit leader and face of the organization, the ED is responsible for a host of employment, operational, financial, promotional and board-related duties. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership, Management and Team Development
- Liaison to the Board, partnering on strategic planning, annual goals, and organizational governance.
- Provide overall leadership and oversight of day-to-day operations, ensuring effective management of programs, staff, and volunteers.
- Direct all organizational programs, identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, and continuous improvement based on community needs and emerging trends.
- Build and strengthen collaborative partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand program impact and advance the organization’s mission.
Financial And Policy Management
- Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget while overseeing financial performance and reporting to the Board.
- Establish and maintain sound financial policies, internal controls, and transparent financial management practices.
- Ensure compliance with human resources and financial regulations by implementing best practices and engaging appropriate professional advisors.
HUD Supportive Housing Programs
- Strategically identify community needs and agency capacity to develop programs which provide successful outcomes as defined by the grants.
- Monitor case management and team, provide training, conduct monthly staff meetings and weekly case meetings.
- Facilitate and complete grant contracts and amendments as needed.
Board of Directors
- Partner with the Board to achieve fundraising goals by expanding support from individual, corporate, foundation, and event-based donors.
- Provide visionary leadership by communicating the organization’s mission, strategic direction, and key initiatives to the Board, employees, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement policies, procedures, and governance practices that support effective organizational operations and compliance.
- Engage and strengthen the Board through recruitment, onboarding, donor cultivation, speaking opportunities, and timely communication on organizational priorities and emerging issues.
Fundraising
- Identify and manage fundraising opportunities and securing corporate sponsors.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community leaders.
- Seek out and pursue grant opportunities and oversee the grant application process.
- Act as spokesperson, ambassador and advocate for the organization with a variety of diverse constitutes. Actively promote the agency and its value to the community.
- Develop concise and effective message conveying the FSCAC’s identify and implement strategies to support identity.
Miscellaneous
- Network with the community and participate in regular speaking engagements with service clubs to promote and educate the public on the CANB’s Mission.
- Oversee and delegate maintenance of website and social media accounts.
- Manage the maintenance needs list of the facility itself.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary Range: $100,000 – $105,000 per year (DOE). Benefits include a health insurance stipend, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, and other applicable benefits.
