Insurance Defense Attorney

Responsibilities Independently handle civil litigation and insurance defense files from inception to resolution, with appropriate partner support. Take and defend depositions; attend court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations. Prepare high-quality pleadings, motions, discovery, and substantive legal research. Develop defense strategies, manage discovery, and negotiate settlements. Maintain direct, professional contact with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and experts. Requirements Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California 3–5 years of civil litigation experience, with a strong preference for insurance defense. Demonstrated experience taking/defending depositions, arguing motions, and managing written discovery. Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload from inception to resolution. Familiarity with billable hour targets, task-based billing, and insurance carrier reporting guidelines. Exceptional legal writing, research, and negotiation skills, with a track record of effective client communication.
