Concrete Estimator

Big-D Self-Perform is looking for a dynamic Concrete Estimator to join the growing team in Salt Lake City, UT or Tempe, AZ. This role will help support the preconstruction team by helping develop accurate, well-organized estimates for concrete scopes. This role is ideal for an estimator who understands construction documents and is looking to grow within a collaborative preconstruction team.Experience/Training:Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.2+ years of experience in construction estimating or similar preconstruction roleExperience in the concrete industry is preferred but not required. We are willing to train and develop the right individual who is wanting to grow.Critical Skills:We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and skills: Ability to read and understand project documents including drawings, specifications, and othersExperience performing accurate takeoffs and organizing estimate informationStrong time-management skills and the ability to work on more than one project at a timeGeneral understanding of construction pricing and market conditionsComfortable using Microsoft Office and BluebeamProficient in On-Screen Takeoff and other estimating softwareExperience with 3D modeling software (CAD, Revit, Tekla, etc) is a plusClear written and verbal communication and a collaborative mindsetDuties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)Request and analyze pricing from vendors for concrete related items (i.e. ready mixed concrete & reinforcing)Complete accurate takeoffs of concrete related items using Tekla (3D) and On-Screen Takeoff (2D)Organize and enter quantities into estimating software using historical production ratesAnalyze and understand project specific constraint that might have an impact on historical production ratesSchedule and run estimate review meetings with project team membersUnderstands turnover process and conveys project information comprehensively to the project teamParticipates in forecast meetings and tracks budget vs. actual costs through constructionSupports Big-D’s mission and values as well as all policies and procedures.
