Registered Nurse, RN - Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (0.9 FTE, Nights)

Overview RN - Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (PBMU), 0.9 FTE Night Shift We are looking to hire 0.9 FTE Night Shift RN's for our Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (PBMU)! No pediatrics experience? No problem! If you have experience working with adult populations, we will provide training on working with pediatric patients and their families while leveraging the adult RN experience you already have. The PBMU consists of 41 beds. Care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. The PBMU is committed to the evaluation and behavioral stabilization of children (ages 4 through 17) with emotional, behavioral, and neuropsychiatric disorders. Disorders commonly addressed include depression, developmental delays, attention deficits, anxiety, pervasive developmental disorders, conduct disorders, oppositional-defiant disorders, anorexia/bulimia, and psychosis, with attention to children who have concomitant problems such as hearing impairments, chronic medical illnesses, or physical developmental disabilities. The PBMU program utilizes an interdisciplinary model of care, involving registered nurses; child and adolescent psychiatrists; psychiatric nurse practitioners; psychologists; mental health therapists; social workers; pediatric mental health specialists; special education teachers; and various therapists to develop individualized treatment plans. Care includes behavior management in a milieu setting; family/caregiver and patient education; group activities; supportive family/caregiver and individual support; psychotropic medication management; and limited medical nursing services. Responsibilities Provide safe, family-centered patient care in accordance with the Nursing Care Process. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with patients, families, and the health care team. May supervise and delegate tasks to Nurse Technicians, LPNs, CMAs, CNAs, and others as defined by state regulations. Support the organization’s strategic goals by incorporating CPI, value-based behaviors, error prevention, patient safety, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives into daily practice. Required Education/Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Prior experience in a pediatric-related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments. Required Credentials Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license as required to work in the state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required at time of hire unless a current Life Support certification applicable to the practice area is held (see practice area requirements). BLS must be maintained current until the appropriate Life Support Education for the practice area is obtained. PEARS or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS where applicable; ACLS is not accepted as a substitute. Employees are responsible for costs associated with obtaining required certifications if not already in place. Nurses in the Psychiatric Unit and related teams are required to obtain PEARS within 6 months of employment and maintain current status thereafter. Safety Care Certification (internal training) is required for Nurses in the Psychiatric Unit and Child Psych Consultation Behavior Support Team within 3 months of hire, with annual renewal thereafter. Compensation and Benefits Compensation Range: $51.60 - $91.30 per hour Salary Information: This range is based on full-time employment (2080 hours/year). Offers are determined by factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range.
