Registered Nurse - Oncology Chemo Certified

Acute Leukemia and Hematology NursePosition: Real job opportunity for an Acute Leukemia and Hematology nurse. Experience: Must have MS oncology and at least one inpatient hematology oncology experience in work history and checklist. A minimum of two years of overall nursing experience is required. First time travelers: NO. Patient Age Group: Adults, Geriatrics. Patient Diagnoses: Primarily care for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. Medical unit - high number of blood products, IV antibiotics and electrolytes. Staffing Ratios: Goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5. Weekends: Variable based on unit needs. Schedule: No set/blocked scheduling. If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department's needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. Special Focus: Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols, patient falls prevention. Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, ONS Chemo Cert. Certifications Preferred: NIHSS. Skills Required: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Telemetry monitoring, Use of Rapid Response Teams, Feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/Phlebotomy, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs. Computerized Charting: EPIC.
