Human Resources Generalist Position Summary Midwest Recreational Clearinghouse is now hiring a Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist (Multi-State) will support and manage HR operations across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. This position will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture, managing employee relations, overseeing benefits and payroll, and supporting organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of multi‑state employment laws and the ability to adapt HR strategies to meet diverse regulatory and workforce needs. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees across all locations. Address employee concerns, mediate disputes, and promote a culture of inclusivity and collaboration. Investigate and resolve workplace issues in compliance with state-specific laws and company policies. Compliance and Regulations Ensure the company adheres to all federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., wage and hour laws, FMLA, ADA, and state‑specific paid leave). Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, including I-9s and EEO reporting. Monitor and implement changes in labor laws across all states. Payroll and Benefits Administration Collaborate with payroll and benefits vendors to ensure accurate and compliant processing for employees in different states. Manage multi‑state tax requirements, unemployment insurance, and other payroll‑related needs. Oversee state‑specific benefits programs, such as paid family leave or disability benefits. Recruitment and Onboarding Coordinate hiring efforts across multiple states, ensuring compliance with local hiring practices. Create and execute onboarding programs tailored to regional and remote employees. Training and Development Develop and deliver training programs that meet the needs of employees across various states. Ensure compliance with state‑mandated training requirements (e.g., harassment prevention). Policy Development and Implementation Draft, review, and update company policies to include state‑specific addenda. Communicate policy updates effectively across all locations. HR Reporting and Metrics Generate and analyze HR metrics to support decision‑making. Provide insights on turnover, engagement, and other workforce trends by location. Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred). Experience : 2-5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, prefer experience with multi‑state responsibilities. Knowledge : Strong understanding of federal and multi‑state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, state‑specific leave laws). Experience with multi‑state payroll, benefits, and tax administration. Skills : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in HRIS (Paycor is preferred) and payroll systems. Familiarity with remote workforce management. Experience creating and managing an employee handbook with state‑specific addenda. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
