Instructional Assistant - Whitehall, Pennsylvania

Job Description

Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity for the 2026–2027 school year supporting students and classrooms across several districts in Carbon and Lehigh Counties. Ideal candidates are experienced paraprofessionals eager to contribute in special education environments, including but not limited to multiple disabilities support, enhanced autistic support, and emotional support settings. Assignments will begin August 10, 2026, with limited hours for pre-service events and regular hours resuming later that month, in alignment with the district calendar.

Placements are determined by district needs and your preferences when possible—with openings in elementary, middle, and high schools located within a 35-minute commute of the central Lehigh County region.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 1+ years’ experience as a paraprofessional in a school or special education environment
Must live within 35 minutes of assigned site and reliably commute; 32.5–35 hours weekly, full school day availability required
Meet one of the following Pennsylvania requirements, or complete the seven-module certification process within 60 days of hire:
- At least 48 college credits from an accredited institution
- Associate's degree or higher
- Valid state/local paraprofessional certification
Two positive paraprofessional supervisory references required
Comfortable supporting students with behavioral/physical needs—including potential physical interventions and personal care

What to Know:

In-person interviews are required and scheduled weekly by order of completed onboarding
Hiring is first-come, first-served based on onboarding completion, clearances, and credential verification
