If you are passionate about laboratory science and looking to advance your career, this role provides the perfect platform to apply your skills and grow professionally.ResponsibilitiesPerform moderate to highly complex clinical laboratory tests following established policies and procedures.Independently execute newly introduced tests that require specialized skills.Prepare and oversee the preparation of reagents, media, stock solutions, standards, and controls; evaluate new reagents or controls for laboratory use.Assess specimen acceptability based on testing criteria and determine calculated results manually or through computerized systems.Accurately record and review test results and monitor report accuracy through computer review reports.Adhere to testing schedules to ensure prompt turnaround times for results.Evaluate the acceptability of routine and complex analyses before releasing patient reports.Recognize and respond appropriately to critical values or unusual results, documenting actions taken.Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and performance checks of laboratory equipment.Conduct quality control procedures, calibrations, and evaluate results to ensure result validity prior to report release.Utilize control materials, initiate corrective actions when test systems do not perform as expected, and perform proficiency testing accurately.Identify and resolve technical and operational issues, notifying supervisors or support teams as needed.Maintain proper labeling and tracking of reagents and supplies, ensuring a safe and clean workspace.Communicate effectively with team members, management, vendors, and clients to foster a positive and informed work environment.Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives, and take on additional projects or responsibilities as delegated.Follow all safety, infection control, and environmental guidelines, including the proper disposal of waste.Supervise and train unlicensed staff as needed, supporting ongoing professional development.Maintain professional growth through continuing education compliant with state licensure requirements in California.Provide administrative support such as answering phones and managing messages.Perform other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations and quality standards.Required SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).Strong typing skills are desirable.Automation skills are helpful for efficient workflow.Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including fine manipulation, reaching, and grasping.Good eye and hand coordination.Testing for color blindness may be required based on job duties.Additional Skills & RequirementsBS in medical technology or other life/physical sciences from an accredited college or university.Current California state CLS license (required).Zero to three years of direct laboratory experience.Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting objects weighing 1 to 50 pounds with appropriate assistance when necessary.Schedule flexibility to support laboratory operations and testing schedules.Commitment to maintaining professional development through continuing education.Perform meaningful work in a clinical setting that values precision, safety, and teamwork.
