About the Position Ampla Health is seeking a professional and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to provide excellent service to patients by phone and in person. This position supports the front desk, appointment scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, and payment processing while maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and visitors in person and by telephone.
• Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
• Complete new patient registration and update patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Assist patients with patient portal enrollment and required paperwork.
• Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, authorizations, co-pays, and patient financial responsibility.
• Determine program eligibility and assist with Sliding Fee applications as applicable.
• Collect and process cash, check, and credit card payments.
• Provide patients with account balance information and assist with payment arrangements.
• Print receipts, post payments, and reconcile daily cash and payment transactions.
• Maintain daily EHR worklists and compile daily statistics.
• Prepare schedules and materials for daily front-desk operations and team huddles.
• Maintain front-desk forms and supplies.
• Protect patient confidentiality and follow all applicable policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant qualification required.
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and ability to use a calculator.
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work calmly and professionally with patients and the public.
• Bilingual skills in English/Spanish, English/Punjabi, or English/Hmong are preferred but not required.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment and work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff in person and by telephone.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds on wheels.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, reach, stoop, crouch, and twist as needed.
• Ability to use computers and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Position may involve exposure to contagious or infectious diseases.
