Join a mission-driven organization where collaboration, compassion, and quality care are at the center of everything we do.Job DescriptionThe Director of Nursing is responsible for providing clinical and administrative leadership to the nursing department, ensuring high-quality healthcare services, regulatory compliance, and positive health outcomes for the individuals we support. This role oversees nursing staff, develops clinical programs, and serves as a key partner to agency leadership in advancing healthcare initiatives.Provide direct clinical and administrative supervision of nursing staff, including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.Oversee nursing services and ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations, agency policies, and best practices.Coordinate program intakes and assess individual medical needs.Develop and oversee nursing care plans and health-related supports.Ensure coordination of medical services with physicians, pharmacies, therapists, and other healthcare providers.Monitor medical documentation and conduct audits to ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards.Develop, implement, and maintain healthcare-related policies, procedures, and protocols.Lead and oversee medical training programs, including medication administration, CPR, First Aid, and other required certifications.Participate in and coordinate the nursing on-call system.Investigate medication errors, incidents, and accidents and implement corrective actions as needed.Conduct nursing meetings and provide ongoing education and guidance to staff.Support infection prevention efforts and identify and mitigate risks related to communicable diseases.Partner with agency leadership to continuously improve healthcare systems, employee engagement, and service quality.ACHIEVE is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building an inclusive workplace for all employees.RequirementsValid driver's license meeting agency insurance requirements.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the New York State Department of Education.Minimum of four (4) years of nursing experience, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
