To continue advancing the impact we have across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring a Program Director situated within Older Adult Services. The Older Adult Services Department provides comprehensive social services, wellness, recreation, nutrition, and community-based programming that supports older adults aged 60+ in remaining engaged, connected, and independent. The Program Director is responsible for the overall leadership, daily operations, program development, staff supervision, community outreach, and contract compliance of our Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community WithOut Walls (NNORC WOW) Supportive Services Program serving parts of Floral Park, New Hyde Park and Bellerose, Queens. This role reports directly to the Senior Program Director.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Role Responsibilities: Provides overall leadership and day-to-day oversight of the NNORC WOW Supportive Services Program ensuring high-quality services and programming that responds to participant and community needs. Supervise, support, and evaluate a team of administrative staff, social workers, interns, consulting RNs, instructors, and volunteers, and promotes professional development.. Manages attendance for all. Meets with potential new members to explain services available and to assess client needs; provides case management and case assistance via telephone, office or home visits as appropriate. Ensures program and staff meet standards and adhere to policies and procedures as set forth by funding sources including, but not limited to, the New York City Department for the Aging, New York State Office for the Aging and UJA Federation. Responsible for timely completion of all internal and external reports; tracks program utilization via the departmental dashboard, and service outcomes through satisfaction surveys, needs assessments and participant feedback to guide programming and quality improvement. Develops and implements outreach strategies to support program growth, including strategies to reach a diverse, underserved population. Builds and maintains valuable relationships with local legislative representatives, other community based organizations, Senior Advisory/Partners Board members, community nursing partners, local hospitals and rehabilitation centers as well as other divisions within the agency. Facilitates quarterly meetings of the Senior Advisory/Partners Board. Works with program/department staff to create monthly and bi-monthly calendars of events and programming for distribution to the community. Participates in regularly scheduled meetings of the Older Adult Services Department Program Directors, and department-wide quarterly and annual meetings. Assists with budget development, grant writing and contract renewals. Other duties as assigned. Performance & Organizational Excellence Participates in the agency's performance management process by establishing annual goals, completing mid-year and end-of-year evaluations, and engaging in ongoing performance discussions with supervisors and supervisees. Completes documentation, data entry, and required reports accurately and on time in accordance with agency standards, funder requirements, and established deadlines, including updates to agency systems, dashboards, and tracking tools. Completes required annual professional development activities to maintain and strengthen clinical knowledge, professional skills, and overall job performance. Uses program and service data to improve performance by participating in data review and discussion during supervision, department meetings, reporting activities, and other quality improvement efforts, including surveys and feedback activities, as applicable.QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:
Minimum Qualifications Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program and current New York State LMSW license required. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible program management experience in a community-based social service setting, preferably within the field of Aging. SIFI certified, or SIFI eligible and willing to obtain certification, with the ability to supervise social work interns. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing multidisciplinary teams. Strong knowledge of older adult services, community resources, case assistance, benefits/entitlements, and referral systems. Experience with community outreach, partnership development, and participant engagement. Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and data-management skills; proficiency with Google Workspace and in utilizing client management systems. Ability to travel to home visits and between agency sites. Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for special programs and events. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with older adults and familiarity with NYC Aging and NYSOFA funded programs and compliance requirements. SIFI certified. LCSW licensure. Extensive experience and demonstrated success with community outreach and engagement.
