JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Alumni Affairs and Individual Giving executes alumni engagement and annual giving communications and mini-campaigns that increase participation, retention, and reunion giving in support of The Cooper Union. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, data-informed communications and outreach across multiple channels (direct mail, email, digital, SMS), contributing to a coordinated and effective annual giving program. Reporting to the Executive Director, Alumni Affairs and Individual Giving, the Manager works closely with Development Operations, Communications, and Student Affairs as well as with external consultants to implement integrated campaigns and engagement strategies. The role emphasizes strong project management, attention to detail, and consistent execution, while building toward increased strategic responsibility over time. This position supports, through actions and conduct, The Cooper Union mission and contributes to a collaborative, results-oriented advancement team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, digital, and social media. Manage production timelines, coordinate inputs across teams, and ensure accurate and timely deployment of appeals. Track performance and support reporting on participation and revenue outcomes. Provide project management support for Giving Tuesday (December), Giving Day (April), and other priority campaigns. Maintain timelines, coordinate logistics, prepare materials, and assist with post-campaign reporting and analysis. Draft, edit, and deploy alumni-facing communications that support fundraising, engagement, and stewardship goals. Ensure clarity, consistency in tone, and alignment with institutional priorities. Support the planning and execution of 1–2 reunion class campaigns annually. Coordinate volunteer outreach, track participation, and assist in delivering communications and engagement strategies that increase giving. Work closely with Development Operations to ensure accurate data pulls, segmentation, and campaign tracking within systems such as Slate and reporting tools such as Tableau. Support execution of key alumni and fundraising events, including All Cooper Weekend (reunion) and donor engagement programs, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

3 years of experience in alumni affairs, fundraising, communications, teaching, or nonprofit administration Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills for donor and alumni communications Experience supporting campaign execution across email, digital, and/or direct mail channels Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Raiser’s Edge) and data coordination High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism Appreciation for The Cooper Union mission and student-centered environment

EDUCATION
