About Children’s Minnesota Children’s Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. Department Overview Our cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) is a 25‑bed pediatric critical care unit for patients with complex conditions and their families. As a member of the largest pediatric heart program in the state, our team works closely with more than 200 interdisciplinary professionals dedicated to the care of children with life‑changing cardiovascular diagnoses. We specialize in caring for children experiencing heart failure, after repair of congenital heart defects, heart catheterization, and before and after transplant. We routinely utilize extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and ventricular assist devices (VAD) in our care. Our patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, maintenance of systemic perfusion, and management of organ failure. Our team combines a highly technical skill set with a family‑centered approach and values teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. Position Summary The Unit Support Technician is a pivotal front‑line individual who provides exemplary customer service to families, staff, providers and visitors, both in‑person and by phone. They monitor patients requiring continuous telemetry, alert clinicians to acute changes, create telemetry reports, answer questions promptly, and problem‑solve as needed. They are the first response to phone calls, arrange deliveries to patient rooms, direct visitors, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment. They act as liaison to other departments and support overall administrative tasks and technology resources on the unit. Education & Certifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required Health Unit Coordinator certificate preferred Experience Previous Health Unit Coordinator experience preferred Medical terminology preferred Telemetry/EKG monitoring experience preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Situational awareness Outstanding professional and positive customer service skills Positive attitude Exceptional problem‑solving skills Strong computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or hospital technology systems Ability to coach others with hospital technology systems Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with clear understanding of English Self‑directed, organized, and problem‑solver Ability to multitask, direct and support information processes, work independently and within a team Adaptable to change in various workplace settings Salary and Benefits The posted salary represents a market‑competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles. Annual salaries displayed are based on full‑time employment (40 standard hours per week). In addition to salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on‑call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
