2026-27 Special Education Paraprofessional - Tier 3, Eastgate 6th Grade Center

Job Description Starting Date: Aug 18, 2026 Title: Paraprofessional – Special Education Tier 3 Purpose Statement: Assist in supervision, physical and emotional/mental health care, instruction of special needs students, administer medical assistance as instructed, relieve teachers of clerical tasks, model skills for assignments, implement instructional plans, monitor behavior, and provide information to school personnel. Responsibilities Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials under supervising teacher to support objectives. Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by health professionals. Administer tests, homework, make‑up work to support teachers. Communicate with instructional staff, support personnel, and others to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives. Evaluate students during the school day to take action or provide referrals. Maintain instructional materials, equipment, and records to ensure availability and meet requirements. Monitor students in various settings to maintain a safe and positive learning environment. Participate in meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire or convey information. Perform routine clerical duties such as filing, typing, attendance, grading, bulletin board management. Prepare research‑based lessons for individuals or small groups to implement remediation goals. Promote good study, social, and emotional habits to improve student outcomes. Provide instruction under supervising teacher in academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills, assistive technology, etc. Research resources, intervention techniques, assessment tools, community resources to determine appropriate instructional approaches. Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns. Respond to inquiries to solve problems, provide information, and/or referrals. Serve as chief source of information for substitute teacher or act as substitute teacher to implement the course of study. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate or 60 college credits. Experience: Job‑related experience desired. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Basic math, reading manuals, writing documents, oral instruction, instructional procedures, safety practices, conflict resolution, mental health regulation, child development. Skills in office equipment, software applications, record keeping. Abilities: scheduling, data collection, equipment use, teamwork, confidentiality, communication, problem solving, adaptability. Certificates & Licenses: Medication administration as needed, CPR/First Aid, MANDT as needed, Substitute Certificate. Clearances: Criminal background clearance. Other Requirements: Minimum 30–60 college credits. Pass Paraprofessional test in Missouri or 20‑hour online substitute training program. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt.
