Position SummarySBCC is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Data Engineer to support enterprise-level analytics initiatives within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role focuses on leveraging cutting-edge data science techniques to develop scalable, data-driven solutions that directly support critical government operations.The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with strategic thinking and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and deploy advanced analytics solutions using techniques such as machine learning, statistical analysis, optimization, and artificial intelligenceAnalyze large, complex datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights that support mission objectivesBuild and implement models using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and JavaScriptApply modern approaches including natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, and predictive modelingDevelop innovative data-driven solutions using next-generation analytics platforms and toolsConduct research and development to continuously improve analytical methods, processes, and technologiesEvaluate and refine analytical procedures to ensure efficiency, scalability, and accuracyPartner with SBCC teams, USG personnel, and external stakeholders to deliver high-impact analytics solutionsPresent technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences through reports, briefings, and presentationsFacilitate knowledge sharing and remain current on emerging data science tools and industry best practicesContribute to cross-functional teams and support collaborative problem-solving initiativesSupport team development through effective communication, coaching, and collaboration techniquesContribute innovative ideas to enhance analytics capabilities and organizational effectivenessBuild and maintain strong relationships across internal teams and external partnersRequired QualificationsBachelor 's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Engineering, or a related technical fieldRelevant experience: 1 - 5 yearsDemonstrated ability to work with large datasets and apply analytical techniquesPreferred QualificationsMaster 's degree in a relevant technical disciplineExperience supporting government or mission-critical environmentsExposure to AI, NLP, deep learning, or advanced modeling techniquesCandidates with experience in the following areas will find their skills highly transferable and valuable in this role:Military Operations or Defense-related environmentsTechnology industry experience, particularly in data, analytics, or softwareProgram and/or project management, especially in complex or cross-functional settingsTechnical SkillsProficiency in Python, R, SQL, and JavaScriptExperience with machine learning frameworks and data analytics toolsFamiliarity with big data environments and scalable systemsExperience using both open-source and commercial analytics platformsCore CompetenciesAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication abilitiesAbility to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable outcomesHigh attention to detail and exceptional organizational skillsProven ability to work both independently and in team environmentsWork EnvironmentDepending on the mix of projects, this position may offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement, supporting both collaboration and work-life balance:Minimum of 3 days per week onsite at Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB) -- Shreveport, LouisianaUp to 2 days per week remote, based on project needs and team coordinationTravel RequirementsRoutine local commute to and from Barksdale, AFB LASecurity ClearanceThis position supports U.S. Government initiatives and requires:Active Secret Clearance orAbility to successfully obtain and maintain a Secret ClearanceEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO) StatementSBCC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
