Electro-Mechanical Technician

Location: Fairfield, OH

Department: Product Services – Inspection, Maintenance, & Repair

Reports To: Manager, IMR

Job Summary

The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, and repairing electro-mechanical systems and equipment. This role combines hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other control systems. This role is responsible for performing weld inspections, oil changes, preventive maintenance, electrical repairs, hydraulic repairs, and general equipment repairs to support safe and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & Control Systems

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical components
• Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including motors, sensors, relays, switches, wiring, control panels, fuses, breakers, battery systems, circuits, etc.

Mechanical & Hydraulic Systems

• Maintain, repair, and exchange mechanical components such as gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and actuators
• Perform oil changes on machinery, hydraulic systems, gears, and actuators
• Check, replace, and maintain filters, fluids, seals, hoses, fittings, and lubrication systems
• Perform mechanical alignment, assembly, and disassembly of equipment
• Maintain, adjust, and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, fittings, pressure issues, leaks, and flow problems.
• Identify root causes of mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions

Maintenance & Operations

• Perform visual weld inspections to identify cracks, defects, porosity, undercutting, poor fusion, and/or other weld quality concerns
• Document weld inspection findings and report defects and other safety concerns
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance according to schedules
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime
• Perform installation, alignment, calibration, upgrades, commissioning, and testing of machinery and components
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures, lock-out/tag-out practices, and company policies
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with procedures and instructions
• Participate in safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Communicate maintenance status, repair needs, parts requirements, and safety concerns to management.

Required Qualifications

• Technical diploma or vocational training in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or automation environment
• Hands-on experience with mechanical systems and components
• Maintaining and repairing electrical systems including motors, drives, sensors, PLC controlled systems, and control panels
• Maintaining, adjusting, and repairing hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, fittings, pressure issues, leaks, and flow problems.
• Use electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and other diagnostic tools
• Good problem-solving and diagnostic skills
• Overtime as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Diagnose electrical systems including motors, drives, sensors, PLC controlled systems, and control panels
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation
• Experience with automation and industrial control systems
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Welding or weld inspection experience
• Electrical and hydraulic certification or license (where applicable)
• Ability to work shifts, on-call

Working Conditions

• Industrial / manufacturing environment
• Exposure to inclement weather for long periods of time (Outdoor)
• Work around machinery, hydraulic systems, electrical components, oils, grease, and shop environments.
• May require lifting, standing, and working in confined spaces
• Work at heights in excess of 100 feet
• Use of PPE required
