The researchprojects will involve research on quorum sensing and particularly interferencein microbial signaling using quorum quenching lactonases. The project willexamine the effects of signal disruption on bacterial physiology such asantibiotics resistance and biofouling reduction. Key experiments will includeprotein purification, enzymatic and biophysical characterization, proteinengineering and evaluation of their effects on microbes, including microbiomestudies. Protein biochemistry, enzymology, protein engineering, andcomputational biology will be key to these experiments. The successful candidatewill actively participate in maintaining the Lab, and will be responsible forindependently conducting experiments to further the Lab research projects. Theobjective is to make significant scientific achievements and produce high-impactpublications. Qualifications Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, or equivalentis required Extensive experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and proteinbiochemistry is essential. The ability to independently design, carry lab andfield experiments evaluating the effects of quorum quenchers in various setupsin key. A demonstrated ability to independently design and carry out researchprojects, write effectively and publish research results in a timelyfashion. Preferred: Experience with enzyme lactonases and their effects on microbiomes ispreferred. Experience with sequencing data analysis is desired.
