OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. Saw and Planer Operators produce world-class products using safe machine operating techniques and effective lean manufacturing principles. This key position configures and operates saws and planer machines to produce parts according to specifications and Kanban card requirements. The Saw and Planer Operator must be a team player and committed to delivering only the best quality to our customers.Position ResponsibilitiesPromotes safety as the number one priority of all OMG employees.Set up the saws and planers, observe operation, and inspect work products to ensure machining conforms to specifications.Read job orders for product and job specifications such as calibrations, dimensions, tolerances, parts to be run, or special manufacturing instructions.Select and adjust the controls for the saw cutting and planer equipment as well as the cutting tools, to meet the specifications as they specify on the production run sheet, including speeds and feed rates.Perform routine lubrication and preventative maintenance inspections as required.Observe all safety rules.Assist other Saw and Planer Operators to set up the machines and prepare and ready the finished boards for the punch presses which stamp out the Cortex plugs.Maintain a neat and well-organized work area.Perform other tasks as assigned.Position RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent.1 – 3 years experience in woodworking, including operation of wood saws and planers.Ability to perform tool changes for saws and planers.Capable of using standard tools and measurement devices such as micrometers and rulers.Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, quality specifications, and other related documents.Good written and verbal communication skills.Strong math and mechanical reasoning skills.Ability to contribute as part of a team.Positive attitude, good judgment, and excellent time management skills.Positive can-do attitude.Physical RequirementsAbility to work in high-noise areas and wear appropriate hearing protection devices.Manual material handling involving the need to grip, squeeze, and pinch.The position requires the ability to regularly stand for long periods of time.Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift/push/pull/carry up to 50Must be able to complete all essential job functions listed in the position responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.BenefitsRobust safety team to prioritize your safetyDiversity, equity & inclusion council promotes an inclusive environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and heardMedical, dental, vision coverageLife insurance, short term and long term disability, etc.401(k) and Roth IRA options, with company match, after 30 daysPaid holidays – no waiting periodMultiple bonus opportunities, such as referrals and new hiresTuition reimbursementWellness membership reimbursementOn site yoga, massage & fitness trainingCareer advancement opportunitiesEmployee recognition programsSummer BBQ's, transparent communication, health & wellness challenges, and many other employee eventsFinancial wellness programRaffles, OMG gear, prizes… and more!
