Open Rank - Associate Dean for Prelicensure Programs Open Rank - Associate Dean for Prelicensure Programs Certification/Licensure · A Texas RN license is required. · Current certification by the National Board of Certification Experience · Experience in nursing education and progressive leadership responsibility in academic administration and history of productivity in nursing scholarship. · Academic experience, to include didactic and clinical teaching experience. The Associate Dean for Prelicensure Programs will be responsible for the oversight of the prelicensure programs and reports directly to the Dean providing transformational leadership in the educational mission of the school. The ADPP demonstrates firm and strong commitment to faculty, staff, and student participation in the governance of the school. Commitment to interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborative efforts is evident. The ADPP is part of the team to develop, implement, and evaluate academic programs. The Associate Dean is responsible and accountable for the daily implementation of the SON strategic and the Total Program Systematic Evaluation Plan (TPSEP) in order to ensure academic integrity and fidelity of the program, to coordinate faculty and student activities in support of the program and recommend allocation of resources provided for the program. Duties: · Leads the faculty to ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory reports. · Ensures integration of professional organization standards as well as state and national standards for program quality including all regulatory and credentialing requirements. · Directs and executes the development of multiple periodic reports on the prelicensure programs to internal and external groups, including the regional and professional accrediting bodies. · Participates and oversees the development of curriculum and programs. · Implements curricular innovations with faculty and other constituents as appropriate. · Oversee the implementation of the prelicensure programs, ensuring adherence to academic policies and standards. o Meets regularly with the faculty to support them. o Coordinates with administrative program coordinator to create effective course scheduling. o Meets with faculty and students, as needed, to interpret educational policy. o Participates as a non-voting member of the Committee on Undergraduate Studies. · Oversee the evaluation of the Prelicensure Programs. o Oversees completion of evaluations for the School’s courses, programs of instruction, and teaching faculty. o Communicates the results of those evaluations to accountable parties. o Reviews and updates the Total Program Systematic Evaluation Plan. o Oversees action plan implementation of the QI processes. o Ensures the development and implementation of the plan for evaluation of the designated program including defined evaluation criteria and the processes identified in the SON Strategic Plan and Total Program Systematic Evaluation Plan. o Ensures ongoing program improvements based on evaluation results and emerging trends in nursing education and healthcare delivery. · Responsible for resources development and allocation in support of the Prelicensure Programs. Seeks financial resources to accomplish academic mission. o Assists in developing the School’s strategic agenda, particularly related to the Prelicensure Programs. o Contribute to the development of faculty as effective teachers. · Fosters academic partnerships and works with faculty, staff, and clinical agency liaisons to monitor semester scheduling for accuracy, clinical placements, and course sequencing consistent with national standards. o Works with appropriate people at clinical agencies to ensure students’ learning experiences are congruent with best practices. · Works closely with the Office of Admissions and Student Services to increase student access to education within the program by facilitating best evidence used for developing admission criteria and participating in recruitment activities. o Reviews applicants and student files for course placements and verification of course equivalencies for the Prelicensure Programs. o Provides input to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Services in setting annual program enrollment targets for new admissions. o Projects trends in student enrollment, progression, and graduation for the Prelicensure Programs and communicates to the SON Executive Team. o Works closely with the Student Success Center to enhance student achievement. · Provides input into the development of an annual budget to the Director of Academic Programs to facilitate programmatic goals. · Facilitates appropriate advisor/mentor matches as needed. · Facilitates the students’ academic grievance process. · Represents the SON and the Prelicensure Programs at internal and external entities. · Assigns faculty and seeks consultation with Vice Deans. The School of Nursing employs a state-of-the-art Center for Simulation Innovation for clinical education, as well as a growing patient care practice providing primary and acute care at our own clinic, Wellness 360 and at a variety of community partner sites. As leaders in community outreach, we also operate a mobile health unit used for disaster relief and other missions. Faculty enjoy a wide range of engagement through our research programs, Center for Community-Based Health Promotion with Women and Children and a new Center on Smart and Connected Health Technologies. Collaborative, interprofessional research opportunities include the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Disease, Barshop Institute for Longevity & Aging Studies, Center for Research to Advance Community Health and more. Our School of Nursing is home to some of the most unique population health and community-based health research in the region and in the state of Texas. Faculty scholarship is supported by a dedicated team in the Office of Nursing Research and Scholarship. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits. Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for fulltime employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Employees and their dependents can also receive discounted copays and coinsurance when using UT Health Physicians, a network of 800 premier physicians including more than 100 specialists. Employees receive $50,000 of group term life insurance and $50,000 of basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance for free, with options to purchase additional employee and dependent coverage for both at group rates. Dental - Three dental insurance plan options are available for employees and their families through Delta Dental Insurance Company, two PPOs and one dental HMO plan. Two vision plan options that offer either standard or enhanced vision benefits. Disability - Employees can enroll in the Disability Insurance which provides income if a non-work related illness or injury prevents you from working. FSAs- Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses. Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers. Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options: Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year.
