Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Pennsauken, NJ. Compensation & Schedule Hourly Pay: $31.00 per hour Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter Schedule: Monday - Friday, Weekends OFF Hours: Second Shift, 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm Benefits Annual Merit Pay Increases On the Job Paid Training Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 K start at 30 days 12 weeks of PAID Maternity Leave Paid Time Off accrues at day one, 80 hours per year Additional day off for U.S. Military Veterans 401 K company match High valued stock at 15 % employee discount PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance provided Technician Tuition Repayment Program up to $5,000 Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Vocational or Technical certification, post secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred. Basic tools required. Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work. Basic diagnostics and repairs of AC and electrical systems. Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred. Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred. All other certifications required by location. Must have at least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment. Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.). Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire. Pass a Ryder Drug Test. Pass a DOT physical. Pass a Ryder road test. Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventative maintenance. Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable. Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision. Replace defective components as instructed. Work unsupervised on most tasks. Perform facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints. Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation. Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT). Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels. Access and use internal and external maintenance documents. Other support duties as required, including Service Island support. SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220). Complete 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days.
