Advanced CNC Programming Specialist, Machining Development Track This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious CNC Programmer who is eager to become a technical expert in advanced machining. Instead of engaging in repetitive tasks, you will tackle real machining challenges, work on intricate components, and develop your skills under the guidance of esteemed manufacturing leaders. In this role, you will gain practical experience with multi-axis machining, precision work, and advanced machining strategies. You will be progressively recognized as a key technical resource on the shop floor. What You’ll Do Develop and enhance CNC programs using TopSolid for 3 axis, 4 axis, and entry-level 5 axis operations. Support programming for mill turn and turn mill processes, including live tooling and secondary spindle tasks. Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies with appropriate guidance. Run simulations and assist with machine prove outs. Support the introduction of new parts from design review through to first article approval. Participate in prove outs and document both successes and challenges; troubleshoot issues related to chatter, tool wear, surface finish, and dimensional variation. Create setup sheets, tool lists, and other repeatable process documentation. Collaborate directly with machinists during setup and early production runs. Enhance program clarity and usability for operators. Transform specialized knowledge into standardized processes. Identify and implement cycle time reduction strategies. Develop reusable programming methods and templates. Advance toward comprehensive process ownership. What Success Looks Like You are the go-to person for complex machining challenges. Your programs run more smoothly with minimal adjustments necessary. Your documentation enhances repeatability and minimizes errors. You achieve shorter cycle times while maintaining high quality standards. Required Experience 3 to 6 years of experience in CNC programming or advanced setup within precision machining. Proficient in TopSolid or comparable CAM software. Experience with multi-axis machining—specifically 4 axis and indexed 5 axis. Background in supporting machine prove outs. Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T. Preferred Experience Experience with mill turn and live tool lathe operations. Knowledge of aerospace or tight tolerance components. A strong interest in intricate machining and personal skill development. Comfortable working on the shop floor. Core Skills CNC and CAM programming. Proficiency in multi-axis machining, including 4 axis and 5 axis. Mill turn and live tooling expertise. Simulation and prove out skills. GD&T proficiency. Process development and troubleshooting abilities. Engineering drawing interpretation. Process documentation expertise. Focus on continuous improvement.
