Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool night shift position at a teaching hospital, requiring OH or compact license and ventilator management skills.

Details

• Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Floats to a variety of ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs, Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
• Float assignments limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Requires proficiency with Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ETT/NT suctioning, and ABG interpretation
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required, at least one from a manager or director-level leader; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties as part of a float pool team
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
• Manage IV insulin protocols and endocrine/metabolic needs
• Support neurological patients including CVA/stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and lumbar drains
• Assist with GI surgery patients and renal/genitourinary care including chronic and acute renal failure
• Complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees ineligible to be hired as travelers at this health system
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers not specifically addressed, but previous travel experience is strongly preferred
