Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the highest standards of product and software quality across multiple platforms and manufacturing processes. In this role, you drive the development and execution of comprehensive testing strategies—including automation, performance, and system testing—while implementing robust quality control and quality assurance practices. You collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify root causes, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver reliable, high-quality solutions that meet business requirements and industry standards. Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain quality control processes and procedures to monitor and inspect products throughout the manufacturing process.
• Develop and implement quality assurance programs and systems that prevent defects and deviations from established quality standards.
• Ensure products adhere to industry-specific quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality policies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes that enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
• Investigate and analyze the root causes of product defects or quality issues, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee product testing and inspection processes, including developing test plans, conducting tests, and interpreting and documenting results.
• Collaborate with suppliers to establish clear quality requirements and monitor the quality of incoming materials and components.
• Maintain detailed records and documentation related to quality control processes, test results, nonconformances, and corrective actions.
• Utilize statistical tools and methods to analyze quality-related data and identify trends or patterns that may impact product performance.
• Provide training and guidance to manufacturing and production personnel to ensure they understand and consistently follow quality control procedures.
• Conduct internal audits and assessments to verify compliance with quality standards, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and quality management systems, promoting best practices and proactive quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with software and engineering teams to develop and execute automation, performance, and system testing strategies that support high-quality software delivery.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex quality issues and support the resolution of technical challenges affecting product quality.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in software quality assurance, including the development and execution of testing strategies.
• Hands-on experience with quality engineering, quality assurance, and quality control in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong expertise in root cause analysis and the ability to troubleshoot complex quality issues effectively.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems, including implementation and maintenance of quality frameworks.
• Experience working with quality management systems and quality management processes.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform data-driven analysis and interpret statistical results related to product quality.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical findings clearly and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and shop drawings to support manufacturing and inspection activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) experience is preferred for precision measurement and inspection.
• Experience with ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Report) forms or similar documentation used in quality validation processes.
• Knowledge of database management systems and manufacturing-related software such as Global Shop and SolidWorks.
• Experience conducting internal quality audits and assessments.
• Experience in developing and maintaining quality assurance programs aligned with ISO 9001 or comparable standards.
• Ability to provide training and coaching to production staff on quality procedures and best practices.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, production, and supplier teams.
• Enthusiasm for elevating software and product quality through innovative testing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

This role is based both in an office setting and on the production floor, providing direct exposure to manufacturing processes and quality operations. The position involves regular presence on the shop floor to oversee inspections, testing, and process improvements, as well as time in the office for documentation, data analysis, and collaboration with engineering and cross-functional teams. The Quality Engineer also supports an additional facility located approximately 15 minutes from the main site, requiring occasional travel between locations. Team members work with manufacturing equipment, measurement tools, and quality management systems, and collaborate closely with production personnel and technical staff. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
