Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of interventional radiology studies, general radiological procedures, and fluoroscopic exams, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the X-ray area.

Job Responsibilities:

• Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
• Perform various interventional radiology studies, general radiological procedures, and fluoroscopic exams:
  • Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologist’s discretion, the referring physician.
  • Assist physicians in performance of minimally invasive and invasive fluoroscopic-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Operate X-ray equipment to perform embolization, Y-90s, and other studies, as appropriate.
  • Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
  • Observe patient while in the procedure area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
  • Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
  • Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
  • Under guidance and approval of the physician, calculate, measure, administer, and record contrast media and radiopharmaceutical dosages received, used, and disposed.
• Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections. Perform machine and dose calibrator equipment quality checks daily, quarterly, and annually, and troubleshoot problems. Call for service and notify all pertinent team members. Ensure that lead vests meet quality standards.
• Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
• Support inspection readiness for the modality as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalency required.
• A minimum of 6 months’ relevant experience required.
• NYS License, ARRT - Radiography (R) certified required.
• NYS certified to inject contrast media required.
• Current BLS required.
• Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
• Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
• Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
• Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices as needed (multiple sites and flexible schedule including weekends).
• 1–2 years’ interventional radiology experience preferred.

Hourly Rate Ranges: $42.03 - $68.63

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
