Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview The Respiratory Therapist Consultant provides clinical expertise, guidance, and support to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) across Northern California. In this role, you’ll help ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based respiratory care while promoting regulatory compliance and improved patient outcomes. This is a highly independent, travel-based position (approximately 75%) where you’ll act as a trusted resource and advisor to facility teams. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the respiratory care team through hiring, training, coaching, and competency development Conduct rounds, monitor care standards, and collaborate with medical leadership on best practices Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations, while keeping the team ready for audits and inspections Manage budgets, staffing, and schedules to balance quality care with financial efficiency Partner with leadership on new programs, policies, and performance improvement initiatives Travel routinely to assigned facilities throughout Northern California to provide ongoing support. Education, Qualifications, and Skills Active Respiratory Therapist License (required) Master’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Public Health, or related field and 5+ years of hospital/healthcare respiratory experience (3+ in management/supervision) OR Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field with equivalent experience. 3–5 years of respiratory therapy experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting. Strong understanding of respiratory therapy equipment, procedures, and regulatory standards. Strong leadership, administrative, and clinical management background. Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
