Medical Director

We are seeking an experienced and accomplished physician leader to serve as a Medical Director, providing clinical leadership and strategic guidance across operations, quality initiatives, and service delivery. This role offers an opportunity to partner closely with executive leadership, support organizational growth, and help advance high-quality patient care within a diverse and clinically engaging practice environment.

Clinical Leadership

• Provide medical and clinical leadership across pathology services and related operations.
• Support high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered service delivery.
• Provide guidance on clinical standards, workflows, and practice improvement initiatives.
• Help ensure appropriate clinical oversight and adherence to applicable standards and regulations.

Operations & Quality

• Collaborate with operational leaders to improve processes, efficiency, and service delivery.
• Lead and support quality improvement initiatives and performance objectives.
• Help evaluate clinical workflows and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Contribute to strategic planning and initiatives that support long-term organizational growth.

Executive Partnership

• Partner with executive leadership on clinical strategy and organizational priorities.
• Serve as a trusted clinical resource for leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
• Foster strong relationships among physicians, clinical staff, and administrative stakeholders.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration across the organization.

Case Volume & Practice

• Provide clinical oversight within a diverse and professionally engaging pathology practice.
• Support a practice with approximately 14,400 surgical pathology cases annually.
• Participate in a broad range of clinically meaningful cases and services.
• No autopsy responsibilities are required.

Prerequisites

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
• 5–10 years of professional experience preferred.
• Prior physician leadership or medical director experience strongly preferred.
• Fellowship training welcomed.
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to quality patient care.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with executive leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted medical licensure in Michigan and Indiana.

Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)

• Fellowship certification in a relevant pathology subspecialty.
• Physician leadership or medical management certification.
• Quality improvement or healthcare leadership certification.
