About the Position

Job Title: Seasonal Travel RN - Postpartum Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Partum/Mom Baby Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:00) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Postpartum/Mom Baby Unit License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS & NRP preferred Must-Have: Minimum of 1 year of current acute care hospital Postpartum/Mom Baby experience Description: The postpartum unit provides care for mothers and newborns following delivery. The unit has 23 beds and approximately 80 staff members. Day shift typically includes 1 charge nurse, 2-3 certified nursing assistants, and 9-10 registered nurses on the floor. Night shift typically includes 1 charge nurse, 9-10 registered nurses on the floor, and 2-3 registered nurses in the nursery. Patient ratios are estimated at 3 or 4 patients per nurse. The main computer system utilized is an electronic medical record system. Candidates must have a compassionate, patient disposition and be team players. Strong communication with staff and providers is a priority. Candidates should have flexibility with their schedule and the ability to adapt quickly to new situations. Typical procedures include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, managing perineal care, and educating parents on newborn care, safety, and bonding.
