The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.This position is with the Division of Financial Regulation (DFR). DFR’s mission supports that of the department by protecting Oregonians’ access to fair products and services through education, regulation, and consumer assistance. The division is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of financial institutions, the availability and affordability of financial products, and the fair treatment of consumers. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required.Here’s what you will do:As the Credit Union Program Manager, you will provide leadership and direction for the Credit Union Program, which includes a staff of financial examiners and support staff responsible for maintaining public confidence in the safety and soundness of financial institutions. Duties include:Planning and overseeing the safety and soundness examination and supervision of state-chartered credit unionsMaintaining effective working relationships with other regulators, industry members and consumer advocates related to the supervision of state-chartered credit unionsAdvising senior division and department management on policy issues involving the Credit Union ActProviding counsel and expertise to the staff, administrator and director.For a complete listing of the duties and responsibilities of this position, please review the position description.Here’s what you need to qualify:Minimum Qualifications:Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experienceORThree years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related fieldRequested Skills:Demonstrated ability to complete projects timelyExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to analyze information and apply sound judgmentWillingness and experience in presenting information in public and to executivesAbility to coach and develop supervised staffExperience working in or with credit unions or banks or as a financial services regulatorApplication information:A resume and cover letter are required for this job posting. On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range.The salary range listed is the non-PERS eligible rate. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible after 6 months of employment, the salary range will increase by 6.95% and the required 6% employee retirement contribution will be deducted from your pay.The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
