Registered Nurse, Pulmonary ICU, Night Shift - VUH

Shift Night shift position with a minimum weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 6‑week schedule. Patient Population Acute Respiratory Failure & ARDS Multi‑System Organ Failure & Sepsis Drug Overdose & GI Bleeds Diabetic Ketoacidosis & Hypertensive Crisis Acute/Chronic Renal Failure Liver Failure/Cirrhosis Preferred Experience Preferred candidates will have 2 years of acute care experience or 1 year of ICU experience. Key Responsibilities Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum. Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient’s care and management to determine nursing diagnosis. Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient’s progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment. The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. Technical Capabilities Care Planning (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility. Care Planning (Novice): Competently handles multiple assignments often simultaneously by prioritizing work into manageable and measurable units; adapts to changes with minimal disruption. Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient proficiency to assess and evaluate patients, conduct primary care interviews and physical examinations, and recognize problems for referral. Evidence‑Based Practice (Novice): Searches for evidence to answer clinical questions, generally works under direction while accomplishing assignments. Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratios ICU: 1:1‑2 | Stepdown: 1:3‑4 Qualifications Certifications: Registered Nurse (LIC) Experience: 1 year of relevant experience; preferred 2 years acute care or 1 year ICU. Education: Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
