Restaurant Manager – Tarbell’s

Tarbell’s is looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead daily operations, develop a strong team, and deliver precise, polished hospitality in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant.

We are an upscale neighborhood restaurant with high standards and a lot of moving parts. The right manager is comfortable making decisions, solving problems in real time, leading from the floor, and maintaining consistency even when the restaurant is busy and unpredictable.

Owner Mark Tarbell and his restaurants have earned more than 100 awards over the past 32 years across food, wine, service, and the overall guest experience.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and Develop the Team
• Lead, coach, and hold the front-of-house team accountable for service, hospitality, cleanliness, execution, and professionalism.
• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop restaurant employees.
• Maintain an active recruiting pipeline and continually identify strong potential team members.
• Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and employee evaluations.
• Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and genuine hospitality.
• Lead ongoing food, wine, spirits, and service training.

Manage Restaurant Operations

• Direct daily restaurant operations and maintain a strong management presence on the floor.
• Ensure consistent execution of service standards during every shift.
• Work closely with the Chef and leadership team on staffing, service, revenue, and operational needs.
• Oversee private dining, special events, and catering operations as needed.
• Maintain appropriate par levels for restaurant, bar, and operating supplies.
• Monitor facility, equipment, and maintenance needs and ensure issues are addressed promptly.
• Continually identify better systems, service practices, and operational improvements.

Manage Costs and Performance

• Manage labor and operating expenses within established budgets

Monitor restaurant KPIs including:

• • Sales and revenue goals
  • Covers
  • Check averages
  • Table turn times
  • Labor costs
  • Comps
  • Beverage costs
  • Operating expenses
• Participate in monthly inventories and inventory controls.
• Monitor breakage, loss, waste, and product handling.
• Help grow revenue while maintaining appropriate cost controls.

Deliver Excellent Guest Service

• Build relationships with guests and regulars.
• Handle guest concerns quickly, professionally, and with good judgment.
• Follow through on service issues to ensure they are fully resolved.
• Maintain the level of hospitality and attention to detail expected from Tarbell’s.

What We’re Looking For

Ideal candidates will have:

• 3+ years of restaurant management or equivalent leadership experience
• Experience in upscale, full-service, or high-volume restaurants
• Strong leadership and team-development skills
• Excellent floor presence and guest service instincts
• Experience managing labor, inventory, expenses, and restaurant KPIs
• Strong food, wine, and beverage knowledge
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving ability
• The ability to remain calm, flexible, and decisive in a changing environment
• A hands-on leadership style and willingness to work alongside the team

Current or obtainable food safety and alcohol-service management certifications are required.
