Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MIG Welder to join our manufacturing team. The MIG Welder will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components used in the construction of secure and specialized facility products. This role requires the ability to read blueprints, operate welding equipment safely, and maintain high quality standards while meeting production schedules. You convert raw materials into finished products by performing general fabrication tasks, using hand and power tools, and working as part of a team to meet production schedules and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on steel and other metals according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
• Fabricate, fit, and assemble metal components and structures.
• Set up and operate welding equipment, grinders, saws, and other fabrication tools.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with company standards.
• Measure and verify dimensions using tape measures, squares, calipers, and other inspection tools.
• Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, and cleaning surfaces.
• Perform hands-on assembly and production work to convert raw materials into finished products.
• Assemble metal components and structures according to blueprints, templates, and detailed work instructions.
• Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50–100 lbs as needed to support production activities.
• Travel to job sites as required, approximately three trips per year of about two weeks each, to support off-site work and installations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction, assembly, fabrication, or a general shop setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately.
• Experience using chop saws, bandsaws, and shears for cutting and preparing materials (preferred).
• Familiarity with forklift operation and general material handling in a production environment.
• Knowledge of welding processes including MIG welding, TIG welding, and general weld techniques.
• Understanding of manufacturing production workflows and quality standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic production issues and adapt to changing job requirements.
• Interest in advancing through proficiency levels tied to increased responsibility and pay.
• Comfort working in a smaller, open-air shop environment with a diverse team.

Work Environment

This role is based in a smaller, open-air shop environment where employees work in teams and collaborate closely on production tasks. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a seasonal schedule during the summer of approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The workforce is diverse, and the setting involves active fabrication and welding work with metal components. The position requires the ability to travel approximately three times per year, with each trip lasting around two weeks. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the dress code for safety, and individuals performing welding must provide their own welding helmet. The environment uses a variety of hand and power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery such as saws and shears, and emphasizes safe, efficient operation of all tools and equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Jacksonville,FL.
