Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting kindergarten students near the Washington Navy Yard, DC, in a contract role covering a maternity leave through the end of January. In this position, you’ll nurture young learners, adapt instruction to meet diverse needs, and foster an inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience teaching students with diverse learning requirements, preferably at the kindergarten level
• Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Positive communication skills to interact with young children, families, and school staff
• Adaptability, patience, and creative problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to kindergarten students with special needs
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), updating goals and progress as needed
• Create a safe and welcoming classroom where all children feel valued and supported
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to maximize student growth
• Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in meetings or conferences as required
• Maintain classroom routines and expectations during the contract period
