QC Lab Technician

Position Job Title : QC Lab Technician Location : East Hanover, New Jersey Type : Contract Compensation : $25.00 – $25.00 hourly Work Model : Onsite Hours : M-F 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, occasional Saturdays Responsibilities Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests of solid materials, liquids, and gases and analyze test data. Operate performance testing equipment and analytical instrumentation, ensuring proper maintenance, calibration, and repair when needed. Perform detailed ASTM, SAE, and FTM testing of key characteristics for raw materials, intermediates, production batches, and R&D or technical service samples. Carry out aviation-specific performance testing, viscometric testing, tribology testing, foam/emulsion testing, and grease testing. Characterize ultra-clean requirements using spectroscopic light scattering particle counters. Conduct quantitative gravimetric Millipore filtration analysis. Apply wet chemical titration methods including Karl Fisher and total acid/base number determinations. Measure specific gravity and perform pour, flash, and fire point testing, as well as electrical properties assessment. Execute analytical analysis using ICP, HPLC, and FTIR. Perform routine control charting on critical tests and troubleshoot/communicate deviations or trends. Operate production laboratory to test in‑line packaged material and authorize line approvals for manufactured product, providing support to production for maintaining product quality and integrity. Maintain accurate, well‑organized, and defensible documentation of all results, interfacing with software such as SAP. Participate in internal quality audits and external customer audits of laboratory performance. Perform PTHAs, JSAs, and support plant/department safety and 5S initiatives. Requirements BS in Sciences or AS with laboratory experience preferred. Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques (specific gravity, titrations, Karl Fisher). Experience with viscosity testing. Ability to lift 10–35 lbs. (transporting solvent and samples from oil/grease pails). Experience or familiarity with ICP, HPLC, and/or FTIR a plus.
