Director of Strategic Finance

Ember Search has been retained on a Director of Strategic Finance search for a venture-backed, high-growth pet health and wellness brand that has roughly tripled revenue over the past two years and is profitable while doing it. The company has built a genuinely differentiated, defensible product in a crowded category, and a newer product line already crossed into the eight figures of ARR within its first year. Backed by top-tier VCs, the business is expanding beyond its core direct-to-consumer channel into major retail and international markets, and is actively professionalizing its finance function as it scales . Locatio n: Midtown Manhattan, NY — Hybrid (in-office Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) The Role This is a newly created seat reporting directly into the SVP of Finance, built for someone who wants to operate as a true strategic partner to leadership, not just execute against a plan built elsewhere. You will: Own budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close, and improve planning cadence and accuracy Build and maintain financial models and leadership reporting packages Partner with leadership on new product launches, retail channel expansion, and international growth Support cash forecasting, working capital management, and banking relationships Contribute to capital allocation decisions and board and investor reporting Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Operations, and Customer Experience on high-priority initiatives Candidate Profile Experience at a $50M+ to $200M+ DTC brand that has scaled toward $200M+ to $300M+ in revenue 5 to 10+ years of experience in a high-growth DTC startup Started career in investment banking, private equity, or a similar analytical training ground Strong FP&A fundamentals: budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to build structure and process from scratch Track record as a strategic thought partner to leadership, not just a reporting function Treasury, debt refinancing, or M&A / diligence experience is a plus Wants meaningful ownership and impact at a company past the earliest, highest-risk stage Why This Role This is a dual-mandate seat combining hands-on FP&A ownership with real strategic input, at a company that is profitable, growing fast, and building out its finance organization from the ground up. You would report directly to the SVP of Finance, work alongside a lean, high-caliber team, and have a clear path to more scope as the org grows toward a multi-director finance structure.
