Social Media Specialist - La Mirada, CA

Job Summary As the Social Media Specialist for Makita U.S.A, you will be at the front lines of our brand’s online presence. Your role is to increase awareness and drive demand by posting daily content across all major platforms, monitoring comments and direct messages, identifying key trends, keeping tabs on trending topics, assisting content creation for photo and video shoots, and ideating campaign strategies for current and new products. Essential Job Duties Keep up on social media trends (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X). Manage daily social media posts across all platforms. Manage comments and direct messages. Keep tabs on the performance of Makita’s social media content. Schedule and plan social media content through the Hootsuite social media management tool. Keep tabs on the performance of sponsored ads on social media. Respond and comment on posts, where applicable. Collaborate with the Customer Service department to provide solutions to inquiries about repairs, promos, and more. Recommend, create, and implement tactics to increase followers/subscribers across channels. Monitor Makita activity across social media channels, including user‑generated content, and engage where applicable. Collaborate with the Brand team to execute external partnerships and sweepstakes that take place on social media. Work with marketing managers to plan live events on social media channels and manage execution, including on‑site events. Protect the brand while actively promoting it to Makita’s target audiences across social media channels. Maintain a library of hashtags for use by Makita on social media. Consistently implement creative, consistent vehicles that fully support the company’s prime objectives with regard to professional users, products, and focus. Skills Required Excellent knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, X, Reddit, and Pinterest. Experience in paid boosting on social media (Meta Ad Center). Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to use social media to increase audience, impressions, brand awareness, and lead collection, and to drive traffic to targeted websites (makitatools.com). Understanding of social media KPIs and basic web traffic metrics. Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Contact Management systems; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Teams and SharePoint preferred. Ability to use Hootsuite and Meta Business Center. Excellent copywriting skills. Ability to work with a team. Organizational skills. Presentation skills: organize information and present to both internal and external audiences. The ability to work under pressure and with constantly changing priorities. The ability to always represent the company professionally. Ability to perform the needed functions of the company. Continued motivation to be the best in the industry. Education and/or Experience Desired Bachelor’s degree from a college or university, or equivalent professional institution. Marketing, journalism, advertising, English, public relations, or communications degree preferred. Two years of related experience in the related industry – this can be in the form of a completed internship or other proven work experience. Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to safely operate a moving vehicle per company policy. Occasional extended hours may be expected to complete activities on‑site during trade shows and events.
