Commercial Compliance Officer

Job Overview Merck & Co., Inc. invites applications for the Commercial Compliance Officer (CCO) position within the Human Health Ethics and Compliance team. In this role, you will partner with the business to uphold the company’s values, ensure compliance with laws, protect people, and enhance reputation. You will support one or more functions within the Human Health (HH) business and/or therapeutic areas by providing compliance counsel, developing policies, and promoting compliant behaviors. Responsibilities Provide compliance counsel for HH Business Units engaging in the development of digital capabilities, including acquisition and use of third‑party data, digital analytics, and AI technologies. Execute AI risk assessments and establish appropriate risk‑mitigation controls and oversight processes. Guide the development of internal capabilities used to support marketing, sales, and operations functions to ensure compliant execution. Develop policies and/or guidance documents for new capabilities, processes, and tools. Coordinate closely with the Global Privacy Office. Serve as a member of relevant HH business function leadership teams. Plan and support oversight and monitoring activities. Lead senior management certification processes and maintain a communications tracker where applicable. Provide end‑to‑end compliance support to Marketing and Sales personnel (US Market and Global Marketing). Participate as a member of Franchise Marketing and Sales teams. Lead product compliance assessments, launch support, audit support, and drafting/revision of HH Ethics and Compliance policies. Support the Business Leadership Team and cross‑functional teams as assigned. Qualifications BA/BS required; advanced degree in digital transformation, data science, business, marketing, law, or public policy preferred. 10+ years of business experience, including 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry preferred. High degree of ethics and integrity. Deep expertise in relevant guidance, policies, codes, and regulations and their application to the business. Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills. Ability to advise clients on new issues, answer routine policy questions, and support implementation of new activities. Experience in developing policy guidance, communication plans, and training integration. Proficiency with data governance, AI risk assessment, and compliance monitoring. Knowledge of medical ethics, regulatory compliance audits, and pharmaceutical compliance. Adaptability, decision‑making, and project risk assessment skills. Proficiency in policy development and implementation. Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this role is $173,200.00 – $272,600.00. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual bonus and long‑term incentive, if applicable. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits.
