Salary: $110k/year + lodging & $500 vehicle stipend provided by the company, along with other benefits such as Medical (70), Dental (50), Vision (50), PTO, 401(K)(5) & Life insurance (100).

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced  Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)to support an  underground construction project in Manassas, Virginia . The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of construction safety experience , including hands-on experience with  underground construction , and a strong background working on  USACE, NAVFAC, and other Federal construction projects .

The SSHO will be responsible for ensuring all construction activities are performed safely and in compliance with  OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and applicable Federal construction safety requirements .

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary  SSHO for the project and oversee all site safety activities.
• Implement and maintain the project  Safety and Health Plan .
• Monitor underground construction activities for compliance with safety requirements.
• Conduct daily site inspections and identify potential hazards.
• Review and enforce  Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
• Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required employee training.
• Monitor subcontractors and workers for compliance with project safety requirements.
• Ensure compliance with  OSHA and EM 385-1-1 .
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and prepare required reports.
• Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, training records, and corrective action documentation.
• Coordinate with project management, government representatives, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding safety matters.
• Identify unsafe conditions and stop work when necessary to protect personnel and property.
• Support government and project safety audits and inspections.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience .
• Underground construction experience is required.
• Experience working on  Federal construction projects .
• Experience with  USACE and/or NAVFAC projects .
• Strong working knowledge of  EM 385-1-1 .
• Strong knowledge of  OSHA construction safety requirements .
• Experience with underground construction safety, including excavation, trenching, utility installation, and related activities.
• Ability to enforce safety procedures and communicate effectively with field personnel and subcontractors.
