As our Accounts Receivable & Collections Attorney, you'll become the legal expert responsible for protecting millions of dollars in revenue across our growing portfolio while ensuring every interaction reflects the values that define Aviva.

You'll work directly with operations, finance, executive leadership, residents, families, and outside counsel to resolve complex collection matters, reduce bad debt, and strengthen the financial health of our communities.

What You'll Own

Success in this role isn't measured by hours billed.

It's measured by outcomes.

You will:

• Own the entire accounts receivable recovery process across multiple senior living communities
• Resolve delinquent resident accounts through negotiation, payment plans, and legal action when appropriate
• Draft demand letters, settlement agreements, promissory notes, releases, and other collection documents
• Manage litigation from pre-suit through judgment while partnering with local counsel throughout multiple states
• Interpret resident agreements, leases, guarantor obligations, and admission contracts
• Advise executive leadership on collection strategy, bad debt exposure, write-offs, and legal risk
• Recover outstanding balances while protecting Aviva's reputation and resident relationships
• Ensure compliance with all federal and state debt collection laws, healthcare regulations, and consumer protection requirements
• Manage outside collection firms and legal vendors to maximize performance and minimize costs
• Track portfolio performance through collection metrics, aging reports, recovery rates, and litigation outcomes

What You'll Bring

Required

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• Experience in creditor rights, collections litigation, commercial litigation, landlord-tenant law, or receivables recovery
• Strong working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and related state regulations
• Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and litigation skills
• Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload across multiple jurisdictions
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Preferred

• Senior Living, Healthcare, Multifamily Housing, or Real Estate experience
• Experience managing outside counsel and legal vendors
• Multi-state collections or litigation experience
• Financial analysis or portfolio management experience
