Plant Accounting Manager

CV Resources is recruiting for a Plant Accounting Manager on behalf of a growing manufacturing organization in Longmont, CO.

This role will partner closely with plant leadership and corporate finance to support operational performance through cost accounting, inventory analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing accounting experience, hands-on cost accounting expertise, and the ability to provide actionable financial insights that support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

• Coordinate the development, annual review, and maintenance of inventory standard cost components including material, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze and report monthly inventory and manufacturing variances including PPV, absorption, freight, and operational performance metrics.
• Manage inventory-related reserves and balance sheet accounts including inventory reserves, inventory in transit, warranty reserves, and intercompany profit in inventory.
• Oversee and analyze all components of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
• Partner with Operations to evaluate purchasing and manufacturing variances against plan.
• Collaborate with plant leadership to review standard costs, bills of material, product margins, and overall product cost performance.
• Develop and maintain margin analysis and profitability reporting by product and customer.
• Support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting through cost accounting analysis.
• Ensure effectiveness and accuracy of cycle count programs and inventory control processes.
• Coordinate annual physical inventory counts and periodic cycle counts.

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Lead month-end and year-end close activities including account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, expense analysis, and inventory costing.
• Prepare financial and operational management reports with variance analysis and commentary.
• Develop price-volume variance analysis and assist operational leaders with program profitability and cost analysis.
• Support weekly business reviews, forecasting, and annual budgeting processes.
• Assist with annual financial statement audits.
• Provide financial support and guidance to Operations and Sales teams.
• Help establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Accounting concentration preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment required.
• Strong hands-on cost accounting and inventory accounting experience.
• Experience working within an MRP/ERP environment.
• Proven experience participating in monthly close processes, inventory costing, and COGS analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, operations, purchasing, and leadership teams.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
