Location: 100% onsite in Washington, DC. Education: JD required. Requires law degree, or currently attending an ABA accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or an equivalent level of legal training or experience or an equivalent level of education may be substituted. Required skills: sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. Hands-on familiarity with client tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Extensive legal writing (for example, in the form of legal memoranda, briefs, related correspondence), ability to perform legal research, high level of attention to detail as it pertains to legal writing.

Day-to-day responsibilities: Works under the direction of a supervisory paralegal or a project supervisor. Performs complex legal research for the trial staff. Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc. reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.

Role also requires hands-on familiarity with client tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Extensive legal writing (for example, in the form of legal memoranda, briefs, related correspondence), ability to perform legal research, high level of attention to detail as it pertains to legal writing.

Preferred skills: Claims assessment and analysis. The law clerks are going to be asked to do significant writing, and to potentially adjudicate claims, so analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to write well will be paramount.

Role is not a first pass review assignment, so preference for higher level candidates, to the extent possible. Please include writing samples with every resume. The [CLIENT] attorneys will go through the writing sample with a fine-tooth comb, so please review them closely in advance. Do not include form letters, anything with redactions, or anything with bad grammar, spelling, or lacking punctuation.
