Program Overview As one of the premiere nursing programs in California, CSUCI Nursing Department’s mission reflects our commitment to the University’s Mission Pillars by focusing on educational and inclusive excellence. Position Overview To plan, develop and teach graduate MSN and FNP classes online, in the clinical setting, and in the campus skills lab. Carry out lecturer duties, including maintaining accurate student records and clinical grades, coordinating clinical instruction and experiences with other faculty, maintaining communication with clinical agencies, participating in curriculum development, and engaging in CCNE and BRN accreditation activities. Teach and conduct office hours. Assignments may include day, evening, and weekend classes and clinical labs. Minimum Degree Requirements A master’s degree in nursing or higher from an accredited college or university that includes courses in nursing education. Required Qualifications The successful candidate will possess leadership experience in teaching graduate‑level nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) content, as well as teaching and student learning outcomes evaluation. Possession of a current active California RN license; current active California FNP license; national FNP certification; at least one year of experience teaching courses related to FNP nursing or a course including practice in teaching nursing; at least two years of continuous full‑time direct patient‑care practice as an FNP within the last three years or eligibility for the Board of Registered Nurses approval to teach FNP nursing. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students, with a special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students. Preferred Qualifications Excellent communication and collaborative skills. Flexibility in teaching assignments. Experience with using multiple teaching modalities with a diverse learner population. Willingness to teach on weekends and evenings. Responsibilities Plan, develop, and teach graduate MSN and FNP classes online, in clinical settings, and in the campus skills lab. Compensation California State University Instructional Faculty, Special Programs‑For Credit Schedules determine placement. Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. General Information Evidence of degree(s) required at time of hire. At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States. Individuals in this position may be considered mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and are required to comply with reporting requirements. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with CSU.
