Job ID: 26012976Posted: 2026-08-28Location: Phoenix, AZ, United StatesSalary: $123000 - $215250 annually + bonus + benefitsJob Function: Technology OperationsSchedule: Full timeShift: DayWorkplace: HybridCareer Area: TechnologyCompany: American ExpressDescriptionSr Manager, Technology Operations Engineering executes strategic technical service plans, drives adoption of innovative practices, directs system and network maintenance, manages complex projects, and fosters a collaborative, growth-oriented team environment aligned with business objectives.ResponsibilitiesExecutes strategic plans for technical service delivery, aligning with business objectives, priorities and resource allocationDrives the adoption of new and innovative technologies, best practices, and methodologies across teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvementDirects the implementation of system upgrades, updates, and backups, ensuring the maintenance of hardware and software systems, and leading the management and maintenance of network infrastructureLeads the maintenance of comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, and generates detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutionsDirects complex technology projects and initiatives, contribute to the development of advanced operational policies and procedures, and identify areas for improvementMay or may not oversee and mentor a team of technology operations colleagues, enabling a culture of continuous learning, growth opportunities, and inclusivity for all individual colleagues and teamsMay or may not provide direct leadership and coaching to technology operations teams, supporting training and development of best practicesMay or may not manage resource allocation for technical service delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational goalsMay or may not collaborate with senior leadership to hire top talent for the technology operations team, ensuring a high-functioning and cohesive unit, implementing strategies for talent retention and professional developmentCollaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectivesQualificationsEducation Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and/or comparable experienceKnowledge of network protocols and technologiesKnowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasksWork Experience:Experience in cloud administration, IT asset management and automation tools and / or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) in a technology or financial services organizationExperience in leading and mentoring technology operations teamsExpertise in management of multiple technology operations teams within a technology environment with a strong knowledge of relevant technologiesExperience in managing and maintaining technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud servicesExperience in system administration, network configuration, and troubleshootingExperience in technology operations workExperience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google CloudLicenses and Certifications:Certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ is a plusPublic Cloud certification is a plusEmployment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
