INSPECTOR OF AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT

Job Description and Duties Inspector of Automotive Equipment (IAE), supervised by the Senior Inspector of Automotive Equipment (SIAE) at Headquarters, is responsible for overseeing maintenance and inspection of the Transportation Unit vehicle fleet at each district hub. Duties include daily vehicle inspection for serviceability and compliance with maintenance policies, developing maintenance schedules, determining cost‑effective repair methods, responding to immediate repair needs from field staff, maintaining detailed logs, collaborating with the Office of Fleet Administration for expense authorizations, and assisting Fleet Inspectors and vendors in maintaining the TU buses and vans. The position requires a Class B Commercial Driver’s License to transport, service, and maintain the fleet. Compensation Salary range: $5,404.00 – $7,114.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum classification salary or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Working Conditions Location: Statewide Transportation Unit Northern hub in Galt, CA 95632. Travel to district hubs required. Work occurs In Office, 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
