Elementary - Health Aide / Office Paraprofessional, Bilingual Required

Position Type: School Based Support: Secretary, Para, Custodian/Paraprofessional Date Posted: 5/21/2026 Location: Thimmig Elementary Date Available: 08/18/2026 Closing Date: 6/15/2026 DESCRIPTION: The bilingual Health/Office Paraprofessional is trained by and works directly under the license and direction of the School Nurse. They will provide basic health care and first aid to students in accordance with their training and district policies. In addition, they are responsible to maintain appropriate health records, support and serve as backup to the office secretaries by assisting with basic office duties such as answering phones, taking messages, greeting visitors, and assisting as appropriate with projects. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required.SALARY: Classified Grade K, starting at $20.89 per hour to start, depending on recent relevant experience. Time split between Office Para and Health Para positions. Tuesday through Friday on the 9-month work calendar. Paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond and evaluate injuries and illness in emergency situations following first aid and CPR procedures in accordance with district policies. As soon as safely possible notify or cause notification of School Registered Nurse and building administrator of all emergency situations. When activating emergency 911 medical systems according to American Red Cross Guidelines you must notify parents. Care for ill or injured students, notify parent and School Registered Nurse when necessary of student illness or injury and prepare student to go home as needed. Communicate with the School Registered Nurse regarding student absences due to health reasons to assist in identifying students with possible significant health concerns (communicable or nuisance disease, injury, hospitalizations, etc. Administer medications to students under the delegation of the School Registered Nurse according to Colorado Nurse Practice Act. Ensure proper immunization status of all students by documenting immunization records, and by contacting parents of non-compliant students. Keep School Registered Nurse and building administrator informed of progress in the compliance process. Generate and maintain accurate and detailed health records of clinic activities and individual student health care. Notify school staff of revisions or changes in policy or health care plans. Coordinate vision and hearing screenings at the building level and do vision and hearing screening individually as needed. Maintain the school health clinic in a clean and orderly manner. Keep supplies stocked. Assist office staff with mail distribution, sorting documents, and newsletters. Assist office staff with basic office tasks such as; answering phones, taking messages, greeting visitors, making copies, collating papers, etc. as appropriate. Assist with special office projects as needed. QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Fluent in Spanish required. Certification in CPR and First Aid or ability to become certified prior to start date. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

EXPERIENCE: Basic computer, office, and communication skills required. Experience in a health related field preferred. Links to Important Job Information:
