Location Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Employment Type Regular Shift Primarily days with night, weekend and holiday on‑call involvement (United States of America) Pay Range $32.50 – $48.50 per hour (actual pay rate dependent upon experience). Position Highlights Hours: Days – start times vary. Three 8‑hour shifts and one 12‑hour shift per week; weekday call once a week/every other week; every 10th weekend on call; 1 holiday per year on call. Student Loan Repayment: Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera. A Brief Overview Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis, establishing nursing care objectives, defining nursing interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to help them understand conditions, medications, and self‑care skills; monitors changing conditions and re‑evaluates care objectives. What you will do Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicate nursing care plans and pertinent information to other health‑care team members; coordinate with other providers. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends; establishing nursing diagnosis, objectives, interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teach health‑care requirements by establishing patient care goals; instruct patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self‑care skills; answer questions and provide information and resources. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards and measuring outcomes against care standards; review records, note changing conditions and reassess care objectives; modify nursing care plans accordingly. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled‑substance regulations, organizational standards, policies, and legal regulations; alert others regarding potential concerns. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient care equipment operating, following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventive maintenance, call for repairs. Keep patient care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Must be able to work the specified hours. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing; active license in the state of practice. Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience 1–3 years experience working in a clinical environment.
