Operating Room RN (Circulator) | Ambulatory Surgery Center
13-Week Contract | Colchester, VT | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

Position Summary

A leading outpatient surgery center in Colchester, Vermont is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment with the potential for permanent placement. The OR RN will provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care while functioning in either the scrub or circulating role, depending on experience and departmental needs.

The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, adaptable, team-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care throughout the perioperative continuum using the nursing process
• Function as a Scrub RN and/or Circulating RN during surgical procedures
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary team
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for daily cases
• Perform pre-operative patient assessments and preparation, including IV starts as needed
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all infection prevention and patient safety standards
• Monitor and advocate for patients throughout the surgical experience
• Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
• Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and professional practice standards
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Support a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment
• Maintain clinical competencies and participate in ongoing education opportunities

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Vermont or eligibility for Vermont licensure
• Minimum of one (1) year of recent Operating Room nursing experience required
• Experience in the scrub role, circulating role, or both preferred
• Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), outpatient surgery, or same-day surgery experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday
• Frequent pushing, pulling, and movement of equipment and supplies
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Must possess sufficient visual and manual dexterity to perform essential job functions safely and effectively
