Bring your passion for special education to a vibrant school community near Waukegan, IL. We are seeking a dedicated professional for a full-time contract position as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, running from August 17, 2026, through May 27, 2027. This in-person opportunity offers approximately 33.25 hours per week and allows educators to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students.
Candidates may request placement in one of two specialized roles: Life Skills Self-Contained or Instructional/Resource. Both positions offer the chance to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and provide individualized support to students with varying needs.
Qualifications:
- Current, active Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois (must present copy with application)
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher is highly preferred
- Familiarity with IEP processes, behavioral interventions, and differentiation
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive practices
- Flexibility and adaptability working with diverse student populations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction for students with special needs in a self-contained Life Skills classroom or an instructional/resource setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support student progress
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development
