About This Role

Shandon Weekday School is seeking passionate and dedicated substitutes to join our team. Previous experience working in early childhood education is desired.

The ideal candidate will have a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. This role involves implementing engaging lessons planned by the regular teacher, promoting childhood development, and ensuring the well-being of each child in the classroom. The position is very flexible and up to the employee to accept shifts that work for their schedule. We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6 pm.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement age-appropriate lessons that align with educational standards
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment
• Provide individualized support for children with special needs through early intervention strategies
• Foster communication skills among students through interactive activities and group discussions
• Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment conducive to learning
• Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly
• Collaborate with parents and guardians to support child welfare and development
• Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practices
• Represent the program with professionalism and respect both on campus and in the community

Requirements

• Minimum of high school diploma
• Previous experience working with children
• Must have knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
• Flexibility and desire to work with varying age groups
