Job Duties and Responsibilities Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing practices, policies and systems. Understand ERP system and flow of data for a wide variety of various projects. Able to stay organized and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Process purchase requisitions, both paper and electronic, and make sure information is complete. Clarify unclear items, recommend solutions, and work with management, technicians and suppliers to find alternatives for long lead time or obsolete items and ensure all confirmations are received and entered in the ERP system in a timely manner. Monitor purchased items with follow‑ups and update the system to ensure the most up to date information is available for other departments. Communicate changes on orders based on individual project needs and manufacture dates with project management and manufacturing. Work to find solutions to keep projects on track. Able to provide reports as requested from internal departments. Request and analyze quotes based on design specs. Investigate, assess, and resolve product, vendor, receiving, accounting or other complaints or discrepancies and follow up. Negotiate price and delivery with suppliers. Contact new suppliers and work with them to complete paperwork to become approved suppliers. Handle supplier returns for defective parts, overstocks, BOM change (not needed) parts and negotiate for the best solution with suppliers. Follow through to make sure the solution is completed by the supplier in a timely manner. Actively be involved in continuous improvement, providing ideas and assisting in implementation of ongoing process improvements. Actively find cost‑saving solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal customers and suppliers. Able to complete the required duties and stay on task with little supervision. Organize and source all equipment calibrations. Requirements Minimum 5+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing. Experience buying using an ERP system, preferably Acumatica. Ability to read parts breakdowns and simple drawings. Strong Excel skills. Must be willing to work overtime, weekdays, and weekends to meet customer service requirements.
