Appeals Specialist

Responsibilities Atlantic Region Central Billing Office (ARCBO) provides billing, collections, cash posting, pre‑access management, variance, and customer service to affiliated UHS hospitals. We are seeking a dynamic and talented Appeals Specialist. The Appeals Specialist is responsible for resolving appeal issues related to technical and clinical aspects of claims billing and for following up on clinical appeals performed by facilities. Key responsibilities include: Resolve appeals for technical and clinical issues identified during claim billing. Work with HIM and facility clinicians to correct deficiencies in a timely manner; identify problem accounts and trends, and escalated as appropriate. Work with insurance companies to secure payment on outstanding account balances. Properly document the patient account with actions taken to resolve issues. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1‑3 years of appeals experience preferred. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook). Customer‑focused, both internally and externally, with strong attention to detail, the ability to multi‑task, strong data entry skills, and excellent written and oral communication. Familiarity with appeals and 1‑3 years of healthcare business office experience preferred.
